Welcome to the Windover Cottage!
This traditional 3 season cottage with beautiful western exposure is situated on Shuyler’s Island of prestigious Horseshoe Lake. Guests may easily drive to this cottage by using the causeway attached to the mainland. Horseshoe Lake is part of a beautiful 2 lake chain in the Haliburton Highlands. Take in the gorgeous lake view and sunsets through the huge picture window or get out and explore, swim, fish, hike, or golf (you are less than 5 minutes to the 18-hole Blairhampton Golf Course)!
The front of the cottage features a stone patio with a BBQ, dining table and chairs, and a small picnic bench for the kids. There is a slight incline to the shoreline with a great beach for the kids. Ingress and egress to the lake are gradual (no weeds anywhere:). The shoreline consists of a rock/sand mixture. Water shoes are recommended. Swimming from the dock equipped with a swim ladder is a wonderful option and it’s deep enough for awesome cannonballs. The dock will accommodate large watercraft and sea doos. There are two kids' kayaks and a lily pad for hours of fun on the water. A fire pit is located at the water’s edge for those popular evening marshmallow roasts. Don’t forget to stop and stargaze in the night sky!
This cottage is situated about halfway between the villages of Minden (13 mins) and Haliburton (20mins) where there are major food stores, quaint shops, spas, restaurants, LCBO, pharmacies, live entertainment, and of course Kawartha Dairy.
Head out and explore the world-famous and stunning Minden Whitewater Preserve which is only 5 minutes away. If golf is your passion, the cottage is within walking distance of Blairhampton golf course with several other challenging golf courses within minutes of the cottage. Don’t forget your fishing gear because the lake has lake trout, bass, muskie, whitefish, pike, and walleye for your angling pleasure
