Great for 2 families with kids - sleeps 10!
There are plenty of very modern and fancy vacation homes in "Harbor Country" that rent for a ton of money. This is not one of those… it is a simple, quaint, comfortable 1920’s three season cottage on a quiet street a block from the beach.
'Simple' means no washer/dryer, no dishwasher, raggedy landscaping and no central air (though there are three A/C window units for the hottest days). And it is a lived-in family cottage. The dishes don't all match, but they are old and cool. There are 85 years of family photos around. A little too much junk in the shed. And it's probably time to replace the kitchen cabinets and add a fresh coat of paint to some rooms.
'Comfortable' means four bedrooms that sleep ten, two full baths, a large dining table, a large deck and a side yard with a firepit. There are ceiling fans throughout the house, a Weber charcoal grill, beach toys, badminton, etc. Behind us is a park with a playground for kids. Baseboard heaters allow cozy spring and fall rentals. And there's wifi, a TV and a DVD player. And new this year: a private outdoor shower!
It's a one block walk to a gorgeous 'shared private' beach for the homeowners and renters of the Gordon Beach community.
A short walk gets you to Union Pier 'town' - about 6 stores (including a grocery, bakery/cafe, pizza joint, bike rentals and a restaurant). There are other restaurants nearby on Red Arrow Highway and many more throughout "Harbor Country."
It's a short drive to Warren Dunes State Park, Three Oaks, New Buffalo, restaurants, art galleries etc. There is great cycling in the area. A wonderful small independent movie theater in Three Oaks. A casino in New Buffalo. Or just spend the day at the beach a block away - and be sure to walk back down for the sunset.
It's a great place for the right family or friends.
